Pandora |
||
Pandora is a Internet radio service that allows users to create their own personalized radio stations. The company began in late 2005 and by the start of 2008 just began to emerge from start-up mode. My work has included leading usability testing, as well as conceptual interface and interaction design and documentation for use by developers and product managers. Since my start at the company in early 2007 we have completed a visual redesign of the main web site. We have also extended the service to other sites such as Facebook and MSN. One of the major challenges has been to adpat the interface so that the service can be used on mobile phones from AT&T, Sprint and Verizon, as part of built in applications on personal computers from major computer makers such as HP, and to adapt the service to an expanding range of Internet-connected consumer electronic devices. Below are just a few examples of some of the deliverables. |

As third party hardware makers have become interested in partnering with Pandora to build the internet radio service into their devices, we created refernce design documents to establish a generic concept for extending the Pandora functionality into these environments. |

After having worked previously with a vendor that specializes in remote testing, I brought remote testing in-house so that we could more quickly do usability studies in our agile development environment. This documentation is the final analysis of the test. |

Describes additional functionality intended to be useful to end-users and leading them increase the amount that of time that they spend on the site.This documentation was the result of conceptual designs worked out between me, the Creative Director, a product manager and the CTO. The documentation was added to the internal wiki that developers use for each project. |

At Pandora, much of the design happen very rapidly and through a series of conversations and quick design concepts. These 3 artifacts are quick mockups in Photoshop of how to solve tactical interface design questions. They were shared with the designers, the Creative Director and the CTO for discussion.
